Matching Your Wedding Colors

Welcome to our May Blog Hop!

Get ready for some great ideas, inspiration and how to as you move along through the blog hop.
You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Kristi Richardson at Bloomed To Last Events on Natalie’s Blog Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you make sure to see and learn from all of the articles featured here today.

Matching Your Wedding Colors

Everyone knows that the invitations should set the tone for the wedding, but how closely do the colors need to match? When choosing pieces for your invitations suite, paper selections may be limited, so matching the ink color is more likely.  If you are finding it difficult to locate coordinating items for your event, or have selected one of those "harder-to match" colors, here are some helpful tips to get you pointed in the right direction:

Use the Pantone® Color System
Many retailers, like David's Bridal and The Dessy Group offer swatches you can purchase to show all your wedding vendors. Since one person's impressions of "iris" may differ than another's, this minor expense is well worthwhile. Using swatches helps coordinate the event from the bridesmaid dresses, to the floral arrangements, ribbon, tablescapes and other items.

Choose Design Over Color
Formality can come from classic colors such as gold, silver or black ink on bright white, ivory or shimmer papers. The right design can invoke your theme, without the use of color. As shown in the example below, a simple change of font can bring an easy classic style, a rustic feel, a vintage throwback, or even a deco look.
Elegant Impact Invitation by Carlson Craft >>
Hints of Color
If you are having a hard timing finding the perfect hue, try using variations of shades. This bridal shower invitation was created to coordinate with floral designs in a perfect shade of tea rose. I used hues of peach and rosy pink to give a classy style that the bride and her designer loved.

Material Girls
Keep in mind what items will be displayed together during your ceremony and reception. This is where color matching is most important.
Stick to similar materials to create a complimentary color palette. Cotton, linen, organza and satin fabrics, even when dyed in the same color, may appear different when placed together.

Unique Spring Fling Invitations

Welcome to our March Blog Hop!

This month we are focusing on all things Spring to help you in the process of planning your wedding or event. Get ready for some great ideas, inspiration and how to as you move along through the blog hop.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Katrina McCullum at Made of Honor Weddings on Natalie’s Blog Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you make sure to see and learn from all of the articles featured here today.

Ideas for Unique Spring Wedding Invitations

Spring brings outdoor ceremonies in breathtaking locations such as gardens, state parks and beaches. If you are planning an outdoor ceremony or reception, be sure to note a secondary location for your guests on the invitations. You can use corner copy to make a special note in case of inclement weather. Learn more about how to prepare for inclement weather with Ashley Rae Events in this month's Blog Hop, and Liz Coopersmith at Silver Charm Events also has some great tips for weathering a Spring event, if you haven't already visited these stops on the hop.

Although popular, floral designs are not the only option to announce your Spring Fling with style. Below are some unique ideas to consider when searching for the perfect way to invite guests to join the celebration.

Impressive Papers:
Impress your guests with unique paper selections. Go Green and represent your love of nature with cotton, recycled or plantable seed papers. Mixing recycled papers with a soft pastel or vibrant hue adds a floral accent. Some brides choose to represent elements of the dress by choosing a textured paper or laser cut embellishment.

Less is more:
Designs that feature fonts point focus towards what is written. Inject your personality with an off-beat or quirky wording. Simplistic designs emulating watercolors and subdued hues, such as blush, taupe, and toasted almond give an air of minimalist elegance.

Shape it up!
If you’re looking to create a unique invitation, choose a special shape or cut-out style. From fancy frames to scalloped edges and custom shapes, there are so many options to create a style that's all your own.

Photo Bomb!
Use the back of the invitation to display your event info, while the front displays your favorite engagement photo. OR — you can simply include a photo print or choose a design that features a photo collage to add a personal touch.

Impressive Upgrades:
Add some sparkle with rhinestones, or bundle the invitations with ribbon, bakers twine or a custom wrap. Keep in mind - some embellishments may increase your postage cost or require upgrading to a boxed style.

Make it interactive:
Include a line for guests to request a special song. Advice cards are also a personal way to include guests in your day, and create a memorable keepsake.

Keep Hopping!

      All about RSVP

Welcome to our very first Blog Hop for 2015!
This month we want to help you start the year off by getting organized as you’re planning your wedding or event. Get ready for some great ideas to help you reduce stress and enjoy the planning process as you move along through the blog hop.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Nikki Michel at Ciao Bella Weddings on Natalie’s Blog Hop.

If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you make sure to see and learn from all of the articles featured here today.

      All About RSVP

One of the most important parts of planning your wedding is the RSVP process. For many, it can become stressful when guests don't respond, or respond incorrectly. Try these tips below to help reduce stress and stay organized while planning your wedding and reception.

      1. Make it Easy

Let your guests know exactly how you need their responses and be sure to include a deadline.  If you are requesting RSVPs by mail, be sure to include a pre-addressed return envelope with the correct postage stamp. Set your deadline at least 2 weeks before your caterer and venue need the final headcount to allow extra time for postal stragglers. If space is limited, you can easily avoid some uninvited add-ons by including a line to notify guests how many seats are reserved for each household.

      Example Postcard RSVP
Money Saving Tip: Choosing RSVP Postcards saves postage and the cost of printing extra envelopes. On average, a postcard saves 15¢ per piece. Combine that with envelopes and printing fees and the savings really add up!

      2. Plan Ahead.

The wording of your RSVP is determined by the type of reception you are hosting. Plated meals may require an option to initial their entree selections. Do you need to notify your caterer of any food allergies? Do you need the names of guests to establish a firm seating plan, or simply a headcount for a buffet-style reception? When collecting your address list, be sure you have an email or phone number for each guest, in case they forget or their RSVP is lost in the mail.

      Example RSVP with meal selections
Stress Saving Tip: While assembling your invitations, number each response card lightly on the back in pencil or use a black light pen to mark each card to track the corresponding guest or household on your spreadsheet. Many RSVPs get returned without a name on them, and this simple trick makes it easier to figure out who the RSVP came from.

      3. Keep it Organized.

As you begin to receive your responses, keep track of all the information in one place. It will be easier to keep track of who has or has not replied, as well what the responses are. Choose an online service, like the planning tools available on weddingwire.com and theknot.com, or create your own Excel spreadsheet to keep RSVPs organized. Whether you choose to track responses online or manually, be sure to mark the responses immediately upon receiving them, so they don't get lost, overlooked or forgotten.

      4. Follow Up

Some guests may forget to RSVP, or the response cards may have been lost. The weekend following your deadline, start calling or emailing a polite reminder to gather any last minute add-ons. Don't wait until the week of the wedding to get started on this, as it can become an unnecessary stress. If you don't get a response after 2 (gentle) attempts, only count the guests you have firm responses from. If additional guests reply after your numbers are turned in to your vendors, don't sweat it.

      5. Keep Calm.

Consider that some guests who RSVPd may be unable to make it, and other guests may show up who failed to respond in time. Talk with your caterer and venue staff ahead of time to establish an action plan, just in case a few extra guests show up the day of the event. Most experienced professionals have dealt with this and know exactly how to accommodate extra guests.
